Let's be honest...
If you own an Etsy shop, you know how important it is to have good SEO to help potential customers find your products.
You may have the prettiest shop and the best products, but if no one can find you, it won’t matter.
This is where SEO comes into play so YOU can be successful!
Luckily, there are a few things you can do to improve your Etsy SEO and help grow your business. In this blog post, I'll share some of my favorite tips that have helped me hit over 37,000 etsy sales and counting!
SEO means Search Engine Optimization
If you're saying, what the heck is that anyway...don't worry, I've got you covered!
SEO boils down to "the words and phrases you use when you describe your products, which should be the words your CUSTOMERS are using when they search for something to buy"
Here are some tips for doing just that:
1. Use SEO keywords throughout your site.
One of the best ways to improve your Etsy SEO is to use keywords in titles, tags and in your listing description (because this is searched by Google).
Not only will this help you rank higher in search engine results, but it will also help you attract more buyers.
Where do you find high ranking SEO for titles, tags and descriptions?
I use 5 tools:
etsy, e-rank, google, amazon and pinterest

2. Create custom SEO titles and descriptions for your products based on research.
When people search for products on Etsy, they'll want to know what they're buying before they make a purchase. To help them find what they're looking for, create custom titles and descriptions for each of your products based on researched keywords. This will help you capture more leads and convert more sale since your are driving the RIGHT TRAFFIC to your shop with specific SEO...not just any traffic.
Ex:
If someone searches "moon necklace" that is NOT specific SEO (that person probably is just browsing) and it gets them 207,000 results in the search! WAY too many!
But...if a person that wants a "sterling silver hand hammered crescent moon pendant necklace" THAT is specific and can get their results down to 955 items in the search.
Specific SEO gets you there and gets you more sales.
3. Optimize listings for SEO purposes.
When you use SEO in your listing descriptions, that is searchable by not only Etsy but also Google! Imagine all of the untapped sales potential you are missing if you leave SEO out of your listing description. Adding SEO to your listing description can get you found in the Google search, grow your leads, increase sales and expose your brand to a limitless number of potential shoppers.
4. Use all 13 tags
Tags are another place for you to add high ranking SEO so you can rank higher in the search. This allows you to go broader and think about who is shopping for your item, what style is it, what's it made of...etc. Tags are searched by Etsy, so this is 13 more chances for you to stand out in the sea of results!
This is where most sellers fall short. After having taught hundreds of students inside my Etsy Accelerator Coaching Program, the shops that stand out all have one thing in common besides a great product and eye catching photos.
It's the fact that they use tools to research SEO and follow a step by step strategy when researching, instead of randomly guessing at which phrases to include. This is your BUSINESS...let's learn it the right way first, and build it from there :)
One of the most important aspects of Etsy SEO is doing your research (which is what I teach my students inside the Etsy SEO Masterclass, SEO Membership and for those ready to go full time--->Etsy Accelerator)
When you make sure you are targeting the right keywords and using specific and high ranking keywords in your titles, descriptions, and tags your shop is going to rank higher in the search and be seen in front of customers ready to buy.
If you do these things you'll be hearing cha-ching in no time, even if you're a new seller!
To recap:
Your shop should be optimized for both human and search engine visibility. Make sure your title, tags, descriptions, etc., are clear and concise so customers can find what they're looking for quickly.
Try to include keywords throughout your shop in the correct locations - titles, in the listing description, in product names and even as part of the item's description
Etsy SEO is vital for anyone selling on Etsy, and there are a few key things to keep in mind when optimizing your shop. First, do your research and target the right keywords. Second, make sure your titles and descriptions are clear and concise. Third, take advantage of Etsy's built-in tools like tagging and categories.
